HADW Swingers!

Congratulations to us!

In a very close, fun game last night, your very own HADW Swingers took the trophy home! I've been here 3 yrs and to see the improvement every year is amazing. I think we won 1 game our first year. This year we went 9-2 including the playoffs.

Til next year...

Folio

I thought I'd get off my lazy-ass some what and post some projects I've worked on. Someday...hopefully...I'll have a full site up instead of this blog.

My roles in all the projects range from concepting to development to turning screws.

SkyQ

For the past year, We have been working on a large interactive installment at the Space Needle in Seattle. Hours of turning screws and nuts, running fiber, installing software, etc has finally paid off. On Tuesday, March 13th, we had a soft launch, where Space Needle VIP Guest were treated with viewing the installations for the first time.

It consist of 5 interactive pieces:

Map Station
A 30" LCD w/touchscreen that displays information about different locations and neighborhoods around the Greater Seattle Area.

There are 4 map stations total, a pair on the North and South ends of the Space Needle. In between the map stations are a camera station, where a 1080p HD Camera outputs onto a 42" 1080p HD LCD. Users can move the camera using camera controls, allowing them to zoom, focus, and pan around and view beautiful Seattle. These cameras are mounted atop of the Space Needle.

TimeLapse
A 4 30" LCD along with a 10" LCD w/touchscreen that displays a panaroma of Seattle. It took 12 cameras mounted on top of the Space Needle to complete the panaroma. A photo was taken every minute for 24hrs. The 10" LCD allows users to pan the panaroma and a knob allows users to increment a minute of time, creating a video-like panaroma from day-to-night.

Factoid
A 5 30" LCD w/touchscreen display, with each screen having a camera mounted on the ceiling to capture movement. Waving your hand over the screen reveals a sweet illustration done by James Jean. Selecting a factoid underneath the photo, reveals more interesting facts about Seattle, i.e. The wave was invented right here in Seattle at Husky Stadium in 1981.

Vignettes
A 42" LCD w/touchscreen allows users to get a sense of the culture around Seattle. Actors, locals, etc were all cast and filmed where they could share their favorite places, activities, etc that they loved doing in Seattle.

This has been just an amazing project to be a part of at Hornall Anderson Design Works and look forward to working with our Interactive Team to continue doing this type of work.

More photos will be posted on my Flickr account.
